Max Ale 1.08 (All Grain) 5 Gallon Batch
  • 10 Lbs. Great Western domestic two-row
  • 1/2 LBS Crystal 60L
  • .5 Oz Magnum Hops 11.1 AA pellet
  • 3.5 Oz Cascade Hops 4.9 AA pellet
  • 1 Oz cascade whole FWH
  • 1 tsp Gypsum
  • 1 whirfloc tab
  • White labs California Ale liquid yeast

Mash grain for 1.5 hour @ 150 degrees with 3.5 gallons strike water. Infuse 1.5 gallon boiling water to get grain bed temp of 168 degrees. Run off. Add 1 ounce cascade whole FWH to kettle

After runoff add 3.25 gallons 190 degree strike water, stir it in and rest 5 min . Stir again and start runoff.

Add 1 tsp gypsum to wort

*90 min boil
@ 30 min .5 ounce Magnum
@ 60 min .5 ounce cascade pellet
@ 80 min add whirfloc tab and 1 ounce cascade pellet
@ 88 min 2 ounce cascade,
@ 90 min flame out

Aerate with 60 seconds of pure O2

OG should be between 1.050 & 1.055
*90 min boil really makes a difference in the final product!
