Max Ale Version 1.05 Start Gravity: 1.061 End Gravity: 1.012 Alcohol approx 6.2%
- 9 Lbs. Extra Light LME
- 1 LBS Crystal 60L
- 1 Oz Magnum Hops 11.1 AA pellet
- 1 Oz Cascade Hops 4.9 AA pellet
- 3 Oz Cascade whole
- 1 tsp Gypsum
- 1 whirfloc tab or 1 tsp Irish moss
- White labs California Ale liquid yeast or dry equivalent
Steep grain 30 min @ 150 degrees in 3-4 gallons of water, cut heat and let stand 10 min Add 1 tsp gypsum and 9 pounds LME. Stir well. Add more water for about 6 gallons total. Boil for 60 minutes
@ 0 min 1 ounce Magnum @ 30 min 1 ounce cascade pellet @ 45 min insert chiller into pot if using immersion chiller @ 50 min add whirfloc tab and 1 ounce cascade whole @ 58 min 2 ounce cascade whole
Chill wort to 70-75 degrees, rack to fermenter and aerate well. Pitch yeast and ferment as usual.
